If you are able to help this weekend with private property cleanup, we will be assembling teams at City Hall on Saturday at 9 a.m.Disaster Aid USA lead Bruce Schultz will be the primary contact.
Primary needs are those with chainsaws for debris removal.
Volunteers need to be 16 years or older. If you have them available, bring work gloves, eye protection and a face mask.
We are hoping that with just a few teams, we'll be able to knock out most of the requests of our community!
The response of our community has been overwhelming, with friends, neighbors and colleagues banding together to help each other, donate to first responders and those displaced, and volunteer to help strangers in our community. We are so proud to be part of this community.
If any member of our Rotary club is still needing assistance in storm recovery, please reach out to Wendy Haun (940-293-7434 | whaun@cityofpilotpoint.org) and we'll get a request to the appropriate party.
Our guest speaker this week will be Kathleen Spicer, who volunteers with Shared Hope International, a non-profit organization that exists to prevent sex trafficking, and restore and bring justice to women and children who have been victimized through sex trafficking.
Other Rotary Business
We will be leaving our current round of flags up through Flag Day (June 14). If you have not done so already, drive your route and check your flags to ensure no damage was incurred during the storms. We will assess flags following the next pickup to determine if we need to have a work day for repairs.
