At our July 23 meeting, we had Dr. Shannon Saylor, new superintendent of Aubrey ISD, speak about the upcoming school year and improvements within the district.

Dr. Saylor spoke of the changes going into the next school year that she has seen in her years of working at Aubrey, which include serving as assistant superintendent and Title IX coordinator. She leads a district that is facing extreme growth, like the rest of the Lake Cities, with the Class of 2024 boasting 240 graduates. With many new developments in the school district, she spoke of their outreach efforts to new families and the planning for school coverage, from bus routes to staff members. She also spoke of the new high school, which will start with 400 students but will have a capacity of up to 750.
At the beginning of her tenure, she said that there were generally only two languages spoken in households in the district. With the growth and diversity, that has grown to 50 different languages spoken in households attended by Aubrey students. She enjoys being able to embrace all of the different cultures in the school and to continue to plan for the growth of the district.
